About Me --> Mr. Sobol
Welcome to the CW Lab's website! Please allow me to share a little about your computer teacher's background!
I was born and raised in a small town west of State College, Pennsylvania. I loved being outdoors as a boy. My friends and I were always in the woods hiking, exploring, and building cabins. During the winter we would ride sleds and inner tubes down steep hills and make igloos!
Two of my favorite activities are gardening and landscaping. I have a huge vegetable garden with about every vegetable imaginable growing during the summer. Along with the garden there are fruit trees, strawberry, blueberry, and raspberry plants. My yard has 12 curvy flower beds filled with various flowering plants that the birds love to flutter in and out of all day long.
Before I became a teacher, I worked in a few different jobs including all areas of a supermarket, salesman, electrician, and a clothing factory. Although I never worked as a comedian, some people thought I should be one! Stepping into a teaching position for young children in church is what led me to become an elementary teacher. I love working with children and they seemed to learn a lot of bible verses and concepts from the unique methods I utilized in Sunday School classes. After seeing how well things went as a teacher in church, I decided to attend college to learn how to teach even better.
During my college years I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education along with a concentration in Mathematics. My Masters’ degree is for Instructional Technology in both education and private enterprise. The Master's Degree led to my certification as an Instructional Technology Specialist. My love of learning led me to gain 63 post-graduate credits beyond my Masters’ degree. Between pursing the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, I successfully passed all the core classes to be a Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE).
After finishing undergraduate college, I started out working near my hometown as a Math teacher utilizing technology in the classroom. Lastly, I moved to Lebanon County to accept the job I now enjoy as Cornwall’s Computer teacher.
My goal as your child’s computer teacher is to equip all students with the skills so they have the ability to independently utilize Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Internet Explorer, and other programs both with their classroom teachers and in their homes. My view of technology is as a learning tool. I strive to create a fun classroom environment that builds social skills including good sportsmanship, encouragement, courtesy, and helping each other achieve continually higher levels of success. All of these academic and social skills with benefit the children as they continue their education after Cornwall and take their places in society as adults.
Teaching the children at Cornwall Elementary is such a rich rewarding blessing!
I hope you always have a delightful day!
Mike
