Keyboarding (Throughout the Year)
Software: Kid Pix 2012 3D and Microsoft Word 2013
Overview:
The kids will utilize two hands on the keyboard this year using their left hand on the left side of the keyboard and only the right hand on only the right side of the keyboard. The focus is on using the correct pointer finger on letters and number. They use their thumb on the space bar.
We start out keyboarding two or three word phrases that rhyme teaching a specific keyboard/letter combination. They keyboard the words in separate text boxes.
We advance the kids keyboarding in the spring when we keyboard short silly stories in Microsoft Word. These stories feature short complete sentences that focus on specific letter combinations to build and enhance keyboard knowledge.
